Orbi RBR750 DHCP was assigning IPs far too often
Hi all. Not so happy with Netgear these days. This problem originally came about a few months ago and I've just been putting it off since Netgear support delayed my support case/request until I was o...

Modem to RBR is wired, so no idea what the additional distance is going to do here. If whatever minor interference is there causes this issue, it's a defective product.
I'll try a Cat6 cable, but the issue is not the router getting signal from the modem...
No idea how to debug web page, do you have any instruction on this?

Having the RBR too close to a ISP Modem can sometime cause problems.
RouterIPaddress/debug.htm in a browser.
- NGeezyAug 05, 2022Aspirant
I am unable to reach that address..
- FURRYe38Aug 05, 2022Guru
192.168.1.1/debug.htm doesn't work?
- NGeezyAug 05, 2022Aspirant
"Site can't be reached.
192.168.1.1 took too long to respond."
Yes, I'm logged into the router.
- FURRYe38Aug 05, 2022Guru
Ok. Sounds like the RBR is in a bad state currently right now.
Can you power OFF the ISP modem and RBR for 1 minute then back ON with the modem first, then the RBR.
Can you access same address then?

192.168.1.1/debug.htm didn't work, but orbilogin.com/debug.htm did. Here is what I see..
- FURRYe38Aug 05, 2022Guru
Ok so the RBR has not rebooted in almost past 5 days. Did you do anything with the RBR 5 days ago, reboot or power cycle it?
Just curious here.
I find it odd that you can't access the debug page at 192.168.1.1. I see your devices are getting 192.168.1.something addresses.
And you do have email logging enabled?
What logs sections are currently selected? - NGeezyAug 05, 2022Aspirant
Yes, power cycled everything. Let RBR, RBS, and modem all sit for 10 minutes downtime before bringing back up. Not 100% on actual timing but that nearly coincides with when I finally came here for some help. Wondering if having a scheduled reset on the router would help as I didn't see issues that first day.
As for the router login, yeah weird. I can't login to 192.168.1.1 at all (same message), only orbilogin.com
- FURRYe38Aug 05, 2022Guru
So between 5 days ago and now, has the RBR lost it's connection to the modem any?
Ya, wondering if you can't access the 192.168.1.1 what is causing that. Something maybe in a bad state.

Not that I'm aware of. Again reiterating my original problem. I do not believe there is any issue between the modem and router as devices don't all go offline together. I can still access my laptop's wifi when my desktop's wired connection drops, and vice-versa. The issue appears to be my router's DHCP constantly reassigning IPs to MAC addresses on the network..

Do you have any RBS deployed? If so, can you turn these OFF and see if the RBR alone continues to assign DHCP IP addresses?
Are you using the default IP address range?

Default range, yes. Will try keeping RBS off today
- FURRYe38Aug 19, 2022Guru
Ok. Thanks for checking on this.
- NGeezyAug 19, 2022Aspirant
Within an hour.. still assigning IPs too frequently and interrupting my connections..
- FURRYe38Aug 19, 2022Guru
Ok. Thanks for checking that. Go and and turn the RBS back on.
Seems like there is a DHCP handling issue with the RBR that's not caused by anything with the RBS. 😒 - FURRYe38Aug 19, 2022Guru
Do you have email logging enabled on your RBR?
- NGeezyAug 19, 2022Aspirant
Yes, has been enabled since 8/1 per your rec. This was all covered in this thread previously.
- FURRYe38Aug 19, 2022Guru
And for the problem of randomly drops internet has this continued or stopped?
- NGeezyAug 19, 2022Aspirant
Still happens

Can you please go to this link: http://orbilogin.com/RST_statistics.htm
and either take a screenshot and attach it.
Sending you a PM shortly as well. Look for the envelope at the top of the page and when it says 1 - I have sent it.
- NGeezyAug 19, 2022Aspirant
Poll interval of 5 seconds. Attached here..
- FURRYe38Aug 19, 2022Guru
So the WAN or RBR isn't going down or loosing the connection with the modem.
What does the system up time display at 192.168.1.1/debug.htm ?
- NGeezyAug 19, 2022Aspirant
Dude, can you please reread this thread before asking any more questions? No, the connection from the modem to the router has been fine this entire time.
I still cannot get to 192.168.1.1
- FURRYe38Aug 19, 2022Guru
Sorry about that, this thread is getting long in the pants. For got your having problems getting to 192.168.1.1 but you can get to orbilogin.com/debug.htm correct?
Also the subject of this post is kind of miss leading?
- NGeezyAug 19, 2022Aspirant
Able to access the debug page via orbilogin.com, but not 192..
And yes, the title could have more info but I cannot edit it. It was determined by post #5 that the DHCP was assigning IPs far too often. I'm not going to recreate this thread..
