Orbi Wifi 6 Proper Initial Setup Method for guaranteed Ethernet Backhaul?
Apologies for the noob question however given the amount of negative reviews and issues I have read about trying to implement an ethernet backhaul connection between router and sattelite, I feel like I have to get down to OCD level details for a flawless initial setup.
I have just purchased the Netgear Orbi Wifi 6 Mesh System and I'd like to know which out of the box setup method is best for a guaranteed ethernet backhaul connection:
1) - Start with the router pre-connected to the sattelite
- Turn on router first but leave sattelite turned off
- begin setup on router, THEN turn on sattelite and have it connect to router on the already pre-connected cable
2) - Start with the router pre-connected to the sattelite
- Turn on BOTH router and sattelite THEN begin setup procedures
3) - Start with the router NOT pre-connected to the sattelite
- Turn on router first but leave sattelite turned off
- Begin setup procedures on router, THEN turn on sattelite and have it connect to router wirelessly first
- Finally, plug in an ethernet cable between router and sattelite
4) - Start with the router NOT pre-connected to the sattelite
- Turn on BOTH router and sattelite THEN begin setup procedures
- Connect sattelite to router wirelessly first
- Finally, plug in an ethernet cable between router and sattelite

Re: Orbi Wifi 6 Proper Initial Setup Method for guaranteed Ethernet Backhaul?
I have had best experiences with option run 4.
I tend to setup the RBR first and set it configured for my needs and such. Then connect one RBS at a time wirelessly, then ethernet connect one RBS at a time wired. Make IP address reservations for each RBS on the RBR as well.
