Any luck with the tracert command?
On your EE Smart Hub, in the Hub Manager software you should be able to see this page
From the Home menu , go to Advanced Settings, then Firewall and then select Configuration. Look at the bottom of the page and yuo should see DMZ, if not please post a screenshot of what you do see

This is a double NAT condition:
1 3 ms 1 ms 1 ms 10.0.0.1 >Orbi or other wifi system.
2 7 ms 1 ms 2 ms eehub.home [192.168.1.254] >ISP Modem/Router
Were you able to find the DMZ on the ISP modems page as Foden mentioned? FT issue probably won't be resolved with Orbi or other wifi system until you can get into a single NAT condition at the modem, use DMZ or the modem can be bridged if possible.
- mnichollsuk917Feb 11, 2022Aspirant
Yes, i see the exact page he posted with DMZ on it - what should i do?
- FodenFeb 11, 2022Apprentice
You are Double NAT'd
10.0.0.1 is the IP address of your Orbi
192.168.1.254 is the IP address of your EE Smart Hub
Both IP's are within the Private Address Range
- FodenFeb 11, 2022Apprentice
Follow FURRYe38's earlier post about DMZ
- mnichollsuk917Feb 11, 2022Aspirant
The reason i asked is when i turn DMZ on, it asks me to select a device - do i choose the IP of the Orbi? is that ll i do?
- FodenFeb 11, 2022Apprentice
See msg #61 in this chain
- mnichollsuk917Feb 11, 2022Aspirant
Many thanks for that
10.0.0.1 is not showing in the drop down of all the IPs on the network
- FodenFeb 11, 2022Apprentice
So it's only going to show you the 192.xxx.xxx.xxx IP range then, at least we have determined that you are double NAT'd
To clarify, you are able to get to the the web address of each router 10.0.0.1 and 192.168.1.254 from the same device, like a PC?
Also, 192.168.1.254 is not the default IP address for the EE Smart Hub, I believe it is 192.168.1.1
- mnichollsuk917Feb 11, 2022AspirantI’m out of the house now, back tomorrow - thank you all for your patience I’ll report back tomorrow
- FodenFeb 11, 2022Apprentice
Not sure if this will work, but worth a shot
Is your EE Smart Hub setup as a DHCP server? If so, turn OFF DHCP and change the routers IP address to a static IP of 10.0.0.1
On the Orbi router turn ON DHCP, if its off, and set the router to have a static IP address of 10.0.0.2 and adjust the IP range it provides to start from at least 10.0.0.3
e.g.
10.0.0.1 EE Router Static IP DHCP Off
10.0.0.2 Orbi Static IP DHCP On
That puts all your devices on the same IP subnet – may need to tweak other settings but give this a shot
If it doesn’t work take screen shots of the settings you changed on the EE router and those on the Orbi, as well as the Internet Setup Page
- mnichollsuk917Feb 13, 2022AspirantI’m back home tomorrow, can’t wait to try this and see if we can get this resolved finally!

- mnichollsuk917Feb 14, 2022Aspirant
Hey,
yes i can get to both of those addresses from the same machine
- mnichollsuk917Feb 14, 2022Aspirant
Hey, if followed the guidance and changed the DMZ to on and selected
192.168.1.92 RBR, This is the IP address i found on the orbi page which is labeled as "internet port" on the advanced section - so ive put this in the DMZ section on the EE router and disabled both wifi radios
I have ran the below again and it looks the same to me?

It will look the same for a trace route. DMZ won't change how the trace route results. That will still see the router and ISP router/modem in the line.
- mnichollsuk917Feb 14, 2022Aspirant
ok, how do i know if the double NAT is fixed? I just tired facetime and it disconnected on the first attempt after making the change
on the EE page there is a setting to turn on "Enable SIP ALG" this is currently off
- FURRYe38Feb 14, 2022Guru
So still happening.
Seems that something with your ISP modem is problematic with putting a external router online with the ISP mode and even using DMZ, something is still failing for FT...
- FodenFeb 14, 2022Apprentice
Have you tried my suggestion msg #101? If not undo the changes you made for the DMZ settings and give it a try
- mnichollsuk917Feb 15, 2022AspirantHey guys I haven’t done anything else yet as I have just discovered the issue is now happening when the phone is connected directly to the EE ROUTER! Assume this is an ISP Issue! I couldn’t believe my eyes when it was disconnected directly from the EE router
- FURRYe38Feb 15, 2022Guru
Ah ha. Ok. Something to contact the ISP about and see.
I'd check a online search for anyone else having FT problems with iPhones as well. Just to be sure this isn't a FT app or Iphone issue...
- mnichollsuk917Mar 04, 2022Aspirant
OK, so i thought i would give you all an update.
Problem still persitis,
I have tried:
A brand new phone
A friends phone with his profile
On mesh
on EE router directly
and the newest thing... EE sent me a new router and the problem still persists!!
only thing i can try now is an ISP!
