RBK852 connection issues
Hello and good day to you all. I recently purchase the ORBI mesh WiFi. I had the nighthawk before and it was working perfect but wanted to upgrade to get better speed. I have AT&T as my ISP with 1gig up and down. When I hooked up the ORBI there were no difference in the speed. Netgear technical and AT&T could not help me to get the Orbi working right. I would like to know if any of you know what the configutation should be on my AT&T modem, it's an Arris BGW210-700. I wanted to give it one more try before I return the Orbi. I want to believe the Orbi is much faster than my nighthawk.

Re: RBK852 connection issues
We need a little more information....
What speed are you referring to? Wireless? If so, what are you getting now? What is speed at router?
What is firmware version you have installed in both the RBR850 and satellite (RBS850)?
Have you checked your cables to ensure they are Cat6 instead of Cat5?

Was your Orbi hooked up to your Arris BGW? If so what mode was it in? Also Internet speed is going to be determined by your ISP plan, and even if you get faster and stronger routers, wireless mesh systems, etc., your Internet speed will still be limited to your plan but your LAN network will be faster.

Re: RBK852 connection issues
This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Re: RBK852 connection issues
The speed I am referring to is the WiFi. I am currently runnig my old router, it's a Nighthawk X8 AC5300 routern(R8500). The WiFi speed I got on the Orbi when I had it connected was not much different than the Nighthawk. For instance on the nighthawk Ipone is 296 MB down and 273 MB up, my ipad 259 MB down and 267 MB up. The figures were about the same for all the other devices in the family (iphones and ipads). The figures I was getting when I had the Orbi connected were only about 10 MB better that the figures I get from the Nighthawk. I have fiber from AT&T and I have 1 gig up and 1 gig down. The netgear techinical support were not knowledgable to assist me and AT&T has no clue when I spoke to them what I need to do the get the optimum from the AT&T modem or the Orbi. I believe all my wires are cat 6 but i will double check. I was hoping that if you pay $730 for the Orbi I would get some faster WiFI than the Nighthawk I paid less that half the price. I want to give the Orbi one more try before I return it.
