RBK852 slow WiFi
Hey y’all
I have broadband service and get 50-70 mbps over an old Apple AirPort Extreme.
I installed my orbi and one satellite and the WiFi speed is capped at 10mbps. I thought it maybe increased traffic so I plugged my AAE back in and the speed went right back up to 70mbps.
I have reached out to customer service multiple times. They elevated me to LVL 2 (whatever that means) and I haven’t heard back from anyone in a week.
Is there a setting or something I am i missing? I bout ready to return this and go back to the AirPort Extreme.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? What are your wired speeds with a PC and at the RBR?
What wireless devices do you have connected and using to speed test with?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
Something seems wrong with your setup / wireless settings, but it may be a Mac thing. Make sure you're connected at 5Ghz for the fastest wireless speeds.
On my Windows laptop connecing via 5Ghz and sitting very close to one of my AX satellites, fast.com gives 470 Mbps.
However, my work Macbook Pro sitting next to a different AX satellite can only get 52-95 Mbps, even when connected to a 5Ghz channel (I used the Airtool app to verify since it's not easy on MacOS to force 5Ghz). I can't explain why the Macbook wifi performance is so much worse. If I switch it to an ethernet cable connected to the same nearby AX satellite then fast.com gives me 250 Mbps!
- Jon20175AspirantIt is not a system issue. My dell laptop doesn’t get any better speeds.
It is a settings or configuration issue. Can’t figure out what it is.I'm more familiar with Windows so my suggestions will involve your Dell laptop:
- Are you able to connect your Dell via an ethernet cable to the base and/or satellite? If you can, that tells us if it is a wireless setting or a base station issue.
- Let's assume wireless. In Advanced...Setup...Wireless Setup:
- Is AX checked?
- Is Security options set to WPA-PSK [AES]?
- Did you leave all the other Orbi wireless settings at the defaults? The RBR850 interface has even less options than the RBR800 to mess with, but the defaults seem fine for me. In particular, in Advanced...Advanced...Wireless Settings:
- Is Enable 20/40 MHz Coexistence checked?
- Is Enable WMM checked for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz?
Try this? Be sure to check your CTS and RTS values. If they are at 64, please change both to 2346. Reboot both RBR and wireless devices.

Jon- Jon20175AspirantTried it. No change. Both are at 2346.
Thank you, though.
