orbi has issues (model : RBR850 , serial number:687A1C7EA0C82

My orbi has an issue; in fact, I can't locate it on my orbi app, and the router doesn't connect to the internet. Model: RBR850, serial number: 687A1C7EA0C82, and I can't log in to it. I really don't know what else to do about it.

Re: orbi has issues (model : RBR850)

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

Any front LED indications?

Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch with a wired PC and web browser. https://kb.netgear.com/22697/How-do-I-install-my-NETGEAR-router-using-the-router-web-interface
Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.

I would power OFF the ISP modem for 1 minute. Factory reset the router and power it off. Power ON the ISP modem and let it sync. Then power ON the router and walk thru the setup wizard again using a wired PC and a web browser.
Press the back reset button for 15 seconds then release.

Please avoid putting serial numbers or MAC addresses in public forums.

Re: orbi has issues (model : RBR850)

Where did you get this RBR850 from?

That FW version is not a valid FW version for NG stock FW for Orbi systems. If this came from an ISP, then you'll need to contact the ISP about this. Sometimes ISP contract with NG to get Hardware from NG, then the ISP develops there own FW for these particular model systems. Thus they take on the responsibility of development, testing and customer support.

If the Front LED is turning ON PINK or blinking WHITE, usually means the RBR is not getting good services from the ISP modem or ONT. You'll need to bring this up with the ISP.

Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Try option #2 first...

I recommend CAT6A STP cabling between the RBR and ISP modem.

Other Start Link users have mentioned having better connections with putting a 1Gb non managed LAN switch in between there equipment and the RBR. Something like NGs GS105 switch.

Good Luck.

How did you determine the firmware running on this router?
