Airbnb Internet Options (6,000 sq ft.)

Hello!

I am a property manager for a 6,000 sq. ft. Airbnb property.

I have been working with different wifi pods/extenders to help increase connectivity and speed for my guests.

These have not been working. I talked with my internet provider and they recommended I look into Orbi. I have never used a system like this before, but I am willing to try it.

I bought a Whole Home Wifi System, Tri-band Wifi. Comes with one router and two satelites.

My question is, would I be able to place the router in one unit (known as the hub) and place the two satelites in two seperate units?

It looks like your exterior walls are concrete block. WiFi signal strength will diminish going through those walls.  With the layout you have, if you can put the router toward the center and the two satellites towards each end, it should cover the space pretty good.  Attached is a pic of this.

My home is concrete block, and the signal to outside is reduced, but is still quite strong to cover my needs.

Now that I am looking at it, I have the RBK23 model.

I just compared it to the RBK53.

Is this going to make a big difference?

Due to your concrete walls, the RBK23 may not be powerful enough.  The layout would be the same as I suggested, test it to see if it is sufficient.  If it is not, then you may need to exchange it for the RBK53.  See https://www.tech21century.com/netgear-orbi-rbk30-vs-rbk40-vs-rbk50/#RBK23_Vs_RBK50 for a comparison of features.

Another thing you should strongly consider is moving to the Orbi Pro system. It is designed for small business owners such as yourself. Also, Orbi Pro has some great options that would be great for something like an AirBnB

Orbi Pro has: 

1. 3 seperate SSID's that include, 1. Secure Guest WiFi, 2. Main WiFi (For the owner) and 3. Management/IT wifi.

2. (NETGEAR Insight) Remote Management capabilities so you dont have to be on the network to manage it. Read the article.

3. Up to 5+ Satelites can be connected to the system. They can even be plugged in to the router via ethernet if you have cabling to them.

4. Ceiling satelite that runs on PoE or plugged in.

5. Outdoor satelites.
