DNS Forwarding and dnsmasq on RBR20
Hello!
I've set up a Pi-Hole on my network and mostly everything is working fine. It looks like the Orbi is running dnsmasq itself to check DNS against something (orbilogin.com ?) and if it's not ...

You can set DNS addresses, DNS proxy can't be disabled I believe.
- komradeJan 23, 2019GuideYeah, I have the DNS server set as a device (raspi) with a static IP. That's all fine, but seeing orbilogin.com still work seems like something nelse is going on.
Is that what you mean by "DNS proxy"?- FURRYe38Jan 23, 2019Guru
DNS proxy or relay is enabled on most NG router. Means that you can tell the router what DNS addresses to used on the WAN side, however DNS of 192.168.1.1 will be given to the any connected client. The router will do the DNS processing thus being a proxy or relay.
- komradeJan 23, 2019GuideAh, got it.
Slightly related: enabling DHCP to be handled by the raspi would effectively solve for this. Any reason the Orbi system would suffer if I turn off DHCP on the Orbi?
