And by the way, do above steps on every devices (routers and satellites too).
Remember after enable root, you can telnet using 'root' account without password. Highly advice, to change the root password immediately. Also once you are done, please ensure you disable the telnet access.
Hopefully this works, any ideas, please let me know.

And yes it works, i just checked few minutes ago.
Both Router and Satellites shows 'Update Failed'.
Now I love my Orbi again.... ;-)

My "Bag of Tricks" is now almost complete! Thanks.
The key to your fix is getting something written into that "read only" memory that is used to create the working image when the Orbi boots.
All of the previous gimmicks, such as setting paramters and the firmware_version hack do not survive a reboot.
Hmmmm. Wonder if it is possible to log in as root and get access to that protected space? Something to look into.
