Flashing ORBI RBR50 so I can get an VPN

I want help to use my ORBI RBR50 to use a VPN, but I hgavce been told by these providers of VPN secuirty that I have to FLASH the ORBI with there app to make the RBR50 work, has anyone done this or can someone make a reccommendation?

Would you mind explaining what "FLASH" means? Meanwhile, here is an article you may use to enable VPN on your Orbi router using and Android or iOS device.

The only router I am aware of with stock firmware supporting client VPN is made by ASUS.  Some of their upper end routers also support mesh.  I use two 68u Asus routers in mesh mode behind the Orbi.
