Misleading SSH passwd message in telnet session. How to get telnet back?
Hi everyone,
I've opened telnet session through debug.htm and fisrt thing a saw was this message:
=== IMPORTANT ============================
Use 'passwd' to set your login password
this will disable telnet and enable SSH
------------------------------------------
Naturally, I wanted to switch to SSH, so I had the password configured. But no SSH, and Telnet is not working anymore. 😕
I had my doubts, and should have kept the original session active until SSH access confirmed, but didn't (sigh...)
I suppose resetting the system should help, but is there any other, less time consuming way?
Thanks,

Re: Misleading SSH passwd message in telnet session. How to get telnet back?
Thank you for the heads-up.
I encountered the same message when I telneted into my Orbi. Just like you, my immediate reaction was to set a password and switch to SSH. Fortunately I did a search first on the Internet and found your post. So instead I used the 'find' command to see if any often used sshd exists on the Orbi. It turned out nothing, so I must say there is a very good possibility Orbi doesn't even have an sshd.
To anyone considering to set a password and enable SSH, DON'T DO IT.
