My Shopfiy website is being blocked netgear firewall

Hi there,

We had a netgear user report that our ecommerce site is being blocked by the netgear firewall. The website is https://rux.life and hosted on Shopify. So nothing nefarious or risky going on with the site. We've also submitted the issue to Shopify as well but it seems to be on the netgear router end.

Cheers,

Andre

Re: My Shopfiy website is being blocked netgear firewall

There are several aspects to this situation:

  • No, the Orbi firewall is not blocking access to this site.
(See what popped up when I browsed to https://rux.life. - image attached)
  • Many Orbi users are experiencing a very frustrating situation where the Orbi ceases resolving DNS queries and has to be rebooted.
When this happens, any attempt to browse the web gets that "this site can't be reached" message.
Has nothing to do with "firewall", but is irritating in the extreme.  In this case, every attempt to connect to any web site will get this message.
  • That blue message about "SPAM ... Found on Dustins-MBP" looks suspiciously like a smartphone screen shot.
There could be some sort of anti-spam app on the smartphone that is blocking rux.life.
The user may have activated the Disney Circle or Bitdefender Armor products on the Orbi.
I have never activated them (preferring not to be protected), so I do not know if this is something that one of those products displays.

Sorry not to be of much help.  All I am confident about is that it is not the Orbi firewall. It is something else.

Thanks very much for the help. I checked with the user and they are using Armor/Bitfender. That is a screenshot from the Armor mobiile app.

Is there a way we can determine that our website is not being blocked by armor for more users?

My first thought is to post directly in the Armor community forum.  Everybody who watches that forum has some interest in Armor and may be interested enough to test it as I did.

https://community.netgear.com/t5/NETGEAR-Armor/bd-p/en-home-armor

Surely there is a command in Armor to whitelist a specific URL?  I would think a person could click on one of the entries and find a button to "unblock" it.

Here's something that popped up on a search. (I did not actually read it all.)
