Netgear just pushes out another firmware version, 2.3.1.48. Please share your experience!

My router upgraded to .48, but I need to manually update my satellite to .48, however I can't find the .48 for download. Only .44. Very frustrating. Why wouldn't they make it available immediately to download? Now I have my router and satellite running on two different firmwares.

However, say you'd like to go to a version that was extremely stable before version 2.30.28, you'll need to perform the following steps to get your Orbi to not update automatically to the latest version (as that version would instruct the Orbi to automatically update to the latest one).Here are the steps to perform (if rolling back to an earlier FW version prior to 2.3.0.28: Enable telnet on each Orbi (Router and/or Satellite) This can be accomplished by putting ip_address_orbi.debug.htm EX: 192.168.1.20.debug.htm Telnet into each Orbi and/or Satellite For macOS, seek this link for assiatnce to get Telnet capabilities: http://osxdaily.com/2018/07/18/get-telnet-macos/ For Windows, install a trusted program called PuTTY. You'll see the telnet option. For each Orbi (Router and/or Satellite), you will need to do the following when telnetting into the unit: Input your username and password Username: admin Password: Same password you use to login to Orbi's dashboard Once you're successfully logged in, enter the following codes EXACTLY as listed. nvram set orbi_auto_upgrade=0 nvram set auto_check_for_upgrade=0 nvram set auto_update=0 nvram set orbi_auto_upg=0 nvram set orbi_auto_flag=0 nvram commit If you forget to put any of these lines of code, your Orbi will fight you and auto-update to the latest version. End the telnet session Repeat this process until you have done this to every single Orbi unit you have in your network. Manually update the firmware on each Orbi unit Enter the IP address of each Orbi into your web browser Select "Firmware Update" Upload the file consisting of the firmware you'd like to roll back your Orbi to When prompted with a message stating your uploading an older firmware, hit yes. Allow the Orbi to downgrade to the firmware of your choice Repeat process for all Orbi units ENJOY A STABLE VERSION! I have had this happen before, here is the solution that to the issue... Login into your Orbi router Navigate to the “Advanced” tab Go to “Advanced Settings” Go to Wireless Settings; under the “Backhaul Topology “ section of those settings, hit the “Generate” button. Sometimes the Orbi satellites will forget the backhaul password if the router (or vice versa) is off for a long period of time. Resync Satellites and they should all now appear in the router’s GUI. I didn’t notice much of anything. I’ve been troubleshooting Orbi issues for a week now and to my surprise saw a firmware upgrade became available and figured I had nothing to lose by upgrading it. Wishful thinking here, don’t really expect that the new firmware will fix my Orbi problems. BTW - I have an RBR20 and two RBS20’s. (I think that’s the model numbers).

  Did you satellites auto update? I accepted the push on my router, but the satellites have not updated. And I cannot find the firmware to download to manually update. Thank you.

Update went smoothly.

I'm getting the expected ~1000 Mbps speeds over wired connections and ~300 Mbps over wifi for local file transfers.

The iOS app shows ~100 Mbps which is what my fiber-optic connection is supposed to be.

The network map in the iOS app now shows green for both router and satellite.

The web interface still incorrectly shows some wireless devices as wired, but these changed to wireless after a few minutes.

Infuriating reloading of the attached devices table in the web interface is not gone.

Morning,

The install went quick and easy, but I still can't get an old Brother printer (HL-2140) to appear in Attached Devices or Windows 10 Pro set-up. Failing printer install I would like to use the USB port in the ORBI to connect an external HDD.

Where's the list of fixes for 2.3.1.48?

It appears my RBK50 has NOT updated. Hopefully the directives actually worked.

Anyone have the release notes for this? It showed up last night and I accepted the upgrade, but couldn’t find the release notes somewhere that was viewable from my iPad.

    I looked at the management console and I do see the new firmware downloaded and staged for install. It did not auto update which is nice.
    After I get time to apply the update, I’ll perform a full network reset including a factory reset of the RBK50.

Install went smoothly and no problemns - have 5 satellites (+outdoor satellite) all RBS50 upgraded fine

Nice update - no problems so far after updating router and my one sattelite (just by accepting update all). I'm particularly happy to see that it did not autoupdate this time but only notified there was update available. This is very promising - maybe NG is hearing the feedback after all. There are 2 more improvements I'd like to see - there should be Changelog made available to read (before accepting the upgrade), and also it would be nice to have a document available with steps on how to downgrade as part of any firmware upgrade (in unlikely scenario that something bad happens during upgrade we dont' have to go googling around for this, and especially since we are likely without access to internet at that time). If they added these two documents to the upgrade process as far as I'm concerned it would all be perfect in NG Orbi world.

  As a precaution, I've always kept a previous copy locally for the same reason. If the update went south, I would be able to revert manually via Router/Satellite Firmware Update page respectively.

Upgraded from v2.3.1.44 via the web interface about 12 hours ago. Everything went smooth.

  I also updated via the web GUI which went off without a hitch. I saw the update in the GUI yesterday and half expected that it would be applied overnight but......nope.
  
  I selected "Update all" and that worked, only issue was the update finished but the GUI continued to read "Updating" until I finally just manually refreshed the page.

    I have now kicked the orbi off the network for good. I will return the rubble (accidentally smashed them with a sledgehammer) to the store and see if I can get some value back for them...
