ORBI RBK50 unable to unblock device

I am unable to connect an Android Tablet. Tells me the device is blocked by Access Control in the router, shows device in access control as InPro Comm.

It wont let me unblock it, help please.

  • Turned off access control and problem solved thank you.

My first step would be to turn off Access Control.  If someone can guess my 25 character WiFi password, they're smart enough to steal my WiFi.

The reason Attached Devices says the tablet is something else is that Netgear has software in the router which attempts to infer from the device MAC address what the device might be. Like Apple, the latest Android software has a feature that will "randomize" the MAC address when connecting to WiFi***. And, this is the default setting.  With a randomized MAC address, that router software has no clue what the actual device might be.

If this feature is set to "use hardware MAC address, the router will probably deduce correctly what the tablet is.

*** (For entertainment - or to feed paranoia - search the internet for "randomize wifi mac address")
