      Automatically?

Do we have a universal definition of "automatically" for this purpose. For example, I was on 2.7.1.60 and the new firmware (2.7.2.102) "automatically" downloaded when I checked for updates (that was the first time new firmware downloaded, using the web UI, in a long, long time). I installed it (via the "Update All" button) without experiencing any issues (thus far).

In the past, when new firmware downloaded (as I described above - after checking), the firmware would just sort of sit there and then install sometime overnight. I suppose that would be (or should be) considered "automatically installed".

IMHO...'automatically' means you go to bed and when you wake up there's a new FW installed.  You did nothing.  In your case I would not call that automatic for you had to click a button and authorize/request the update.

Many feel that because the app or web login indicates there is a new FW available you must install.  That is NOT the case and goes to what has been discussed here (both sides) about how you the user has a choice which was not always the case in the past.  Itr is my understanding that if NG feels you NEED a update then those are the ones that are pushed auto pilot.

Yes! Went to bed last night, and when the kids woke me up this morning, I have a notification on the phone from the Orbi app staying the my router has been successfully upgraded.
  • 100% Auto-push update on my RBR50. Went from V2.7.1.60 to V2.7.2.102 without any kind of input from me.  Also, my RBS50 did not get an update and is still stuck on V2.7.1.60.    Admin status page for Firmware update shows no updates for my router but sits in the "Please wait a moment...." status for my satellite, then it goes to something like "failed to update".  Everything seems fine with my network so not concerned yet.

  • Yes mine upgraded automatically overnight and has initially fixed the iOS App not showing connected devices and eliminated the CDI... error when clicking the device icon.

I wish QA of their updates we way better.

      Merry Christmas!

Received an email that there is an important security update for my RBK50.

After I couldn't find anything on the german website I decided to look into the US community.

Funny to get an email for an update that's not made for me (it's US only!).

So it is mid-afternoon, Eastern time in the U.S., on December 26th and v2.7.2.102 is still not on the download site. ????????

  • Still can't my RBS50 to update to the same firmware as the RBR50, I guess I will have to wait until it is available for download.  I still don't have a good explanation as to why my RBR50 was forced updated in the first place though.

From the Advanced - Administration - Firmware Update page

    On the Attached Devices Page

You try a factory reset on the RBS and RBR?

Since I'm only having cosmetic issues with it I'm not willing to go down that rabbit hole. I would like to know how to prevent future forced updates though.
  • After upgrading to 2.7.2.102 I clicked on the button to add Special Parental Controls, which said a reboot was required.  After reboot, the entire section for parental controls is missing.  Any ideas how to remedy this besides a reset?

  • I just noticed that my RBR50 automatically updated to version 2.7.2.102 a few days ago, but when I checked my RBS50 it was still running version 2.7.0.70. Is it normal for the satellite not to be updated during the automatic update process?

      define 'automatically updated'

normally when using the pc login the process will update both

I had a bad experience manually updating my system to 2.7.0.70 where my router did not fully update and the web interface was unreachable, but I was able to use the Orbi app to complete the update on the router. Based on this experience, I have been holding off on installing some of the recent firmware releases until they also show up within the app. Last night I was viewing the device details on both my router and my satellite in the Orbi app, and I noticed that my router was now running version 2.7.2.102. I checked the debug page on my router and it showed an uptime of about 7 days. I then checked my satellite, and it was still running 2.7.0.70 and had an uptime of around 126 days. It was my understanding that the router and satellite(s) should all be running the same firmware version, so I found it odd that the 2.7.2.102 update would only be pushed to the router.

I should also add that the 2.7.2.102 update was not showing up either in the app or web interface when checking for new firmware.
