Orbi RBR50 and mDNS Problem

Question

My Canon Maxify 5420 printer has been working fine for several years, and suddenly, I can't print from any of my iPads or iPhones. The printer works fine from any of my desktops as USB, Wired ethernet LAN, Wifi, Direct Connect, and I can attach to the info page from my iPad by entering the IP address of the printer. Also tried to reboot the router, satellites, and printer several times. After working with the Canon tech support for about an hour, he concluded that since the printer is fine with all configurations, it must be the MDNS on the Orbi RBR50 that is not working. Any help is appreciated.

There is no mDNS implementation, because the Orbi RBx50 system does work on a one IP subnet and a single broadcast domain.

The way I understand mDNS, schumaku is correct.&nbsp; The Orbi router is not involved in mDNS.

Is there a chance that the iPhone and iPad software undated recently?&nbsp; (i.e. "something changed" is the most obvious explanation when something has worked for a long time and suddenly no longer works.&nbsp; It appears to me that every time Apple updates software, that option to randomize the MAC address gets turned on and devices suddenly have a new MAC address, which causes them to get a new IP address from the router.

In a Windows world, I would use Wireshark to capture the network traffic between the computer and the printer.&nbsp; i.e., does the computer send out that multicast broadcast and does the printer respond?

There have been issues in the past where switches were found not implementing multicast correctly, but if there are any switches in this network, one assumes they have not changed.
