Orbi RSR40 - Fast Wired, Slow WiFi

I've got an ORBI RBR40 (although that wasn't an option in the Model pulldown menu), with 2 satellites.

My internet provider's modem connects to my Orbi.

When I connect to my Orbi via Ethernet, I am getting speeds of around 940 Mbps.

When I connect to my orbi via WiFI (5GHz), I get 45 Mbps, although the Orbi app says the Link rate is 390 Mbps.

I'm on a computer, but the app seems to think it's a Smart Phone -- I don't know if that's an issue, but I thought I'd mention it.

I tried disconnecting from the RBR40 and reconnecting, and Googling -- now my problem-solving skills are exhausted, so I am turning to the Netgear community for help. Help!

Who is your ISP and what equipment did they provide?
What is the current firmware on your Orbi device?
What device is your Orbi router connected to?
Are your satellites wired or wireless?

Try these settings:

Disable Circle, Armor, Daisy Chaining, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and uncheck 20/40Mhz Coexistence.

Enable WMM, Implicit BEAMFORMING, MU-MIMO
Set Short preamble mode. Save settings, reboot Orbi.

Re: Orbi RSR40 - Fast Wired, Slow WiFi

Thanks for your response. I updated the firmware according to Orbi's instructions, and now I have a link rate of 192 Mbps. However, now that I look at them, ... my other devices Apple devices have much faster link speeds -- 866, 390, 650, 780, 650, 866.

Those aren't 940 Mbps, so I guess that's the cost of WiFi, but only my iMac is really dragging. It seems to be an iMac <-> Orbi problem at this point.

There has been much discussion about iMacs having slow WIFI. You could check your iMac WIFI settings to see if "A" it is a Wireless N /AC card and "B" you settings are optimum. The reported work around is to purchase a USB WIFI dongle with better specs.
