Orbi rbk12 question for a small location but fast internet

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and am looking for advice with maybe buying an Orbi RBK12 for a small place about 1000ft.  I have a 200Mbps cable internet connection and was wondering if that would be capped to 100Mbps or lower and I wouldnt be able to get the full bandwidth.  Can anyone confirm this? I can't find anything that says how much the WAN port could support.

How would your speed be capped at 100Mb? Unless your wired PCs network adapter was only supportive up to 100Mbps. Then you would see the cap there.

The 1 series Orbi has the following specs: https://www.netgear.com/images/datasheet/orbi/RBK12.pdf

Ports – Orbi Router
- Two (2) 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet
ports
- One (1) WAN & one (1) LAN

Orbi AC1200 Router & Satellite
(866 + 400Mbps)†

What Firmware is currently loaded? Built in router here by chance, if so, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options to consider,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

If you visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

you can feed in the model number and find all the documentation for your hardware.

The specifications are in the manual.

Netgear has not made "fast Ethernmet" for some years. It is all Gigabit Ethernet these days.

Make sure that the network patch cable you use between your modem and the WAN input of the router is CAT5e, CAT6 or CAT7 to be able to handle gigabit speed.  A CAT5 patch cable is only good for 100Mb/s speed.  If your cable it CAT5e or greater, then try another patch cable in case the one you have is defective (kinked or broken wires within it causing shielding/noise issues that degrade its speed).
