I've recently got an Orbi and successfully set it up with my broadband connection. It works fine throughout the day, including long periods of inactivity, but I find it stops responding overnight.
It's configured to use PPPoE and keep the connection always on.
In the morning the symptons are:
- Devices remain connected to the wifi, but cannot connect to the Internet
- Devices connected via wifi cannot connect to each other
- Devices connected via the wired hub of the Orbi can see each other, but also cannot connect to the internet
- The Orbi's web interface is unreachable
- The Orbi Android app cannot find the Orbi
- If I restart the satellite, it cannot connect to the main hub
If I restart the main hub, everything starts working again.
If I had to guess I'd say it's going into some sort of sleep mode and not waking up correctly, but I can't find any settings for that. I've also confirmed nothing is configured to be blocked.
Any ideas? It's a real pain because I have an internet connected alarm clock which isn't much use if the wifi fails overnight.

Re: Orbi stops responding overnight
Yes, on the latest firmware. It was upgraded to the latest firmware during the setup process.
I checked again this morning and confirmed there are no further firmware updates available.

Re: Orbi stops responding overnight
I experience the same problem again last night. I configured the Orbi to email me the logs every hour. It kept sending them, even after the router stopped responding. I've included them at the bottom of this message (with MAC addresses scrubbed).
Here's the network traffic graph from my ISP, it looks like things stop working just after 4am. There's nothing I can see in the logs indicating a problem, except for a lot of DHCP requests. e.g. compare the log data between 2am and 3am and 3am and 4am versus the logs between 4am and 5am.

Re: Orbi stops responding overnight
I updated to the latest firmware and it's had no effect.
I've tracked down something that's triggering it. If I disable (unplug) the satellite, everything remains fine overnight, but of course I don't have a great signal upstairs so the Internet is slow.
I've can't see anything obviously wrong, or if there are many settings to configure a satellite. I tried resetting the backhaul password, but that didn't help.
Any ideas?

Hello MilesB
You may want to work with support if you have found the issue is just the sattelite causing the issue.

Re: Orbi stops responding overnight
I'm going through the same thing on V1.11.0.20. Every night, it just randomly disconnects. I'm using Windows RDP.
Anyone have a fix or understanding of the problem?

I gave up and switched to Google Wifi. Works great without any problems and was trivial to setup.

I need to cover a pretty large distance, through lots of walls, even the Orbi trasmit power has dropped from 170Mbps at the source down to 15Mbps. I really would rather not switch to another product just yet.

Update: My network has been stable for the last 20 hours. I set my computer to a static IP and disabled 'Enable Implicit BEAMFORMING - Boosts WiFi speed, reliability, & range for all mobile devices'. Will report back. Netgear Engineering has agreed to share with me a beta driver. I'll give that a shot at some point. I'll report back on that too. Stand by...
