R50 something

how you get it to stop giving you the incessant not found screen or asking me to login to every site i go to. this is some ridiculous cluster**bleep** of a product. (and one that has security added on to the product)  i've never experienced anything like it and for 94 download for $600 is the worst decision i've ever made.

You could return the product?  If you don't like it, you don't have to keep it.

There have been a number of posts about problems such as this, which have been resolved after providing information about the specific modem the Orbi is connected to and the specific devices which are having problems.

Re: R50 something

Yes, Orbi is a great equipment if correctly set up.
The ISP modem and the way you connect the Orbi units together can affect the way Orbi functions.
Please provide more details about your setup so we can help you.
We are all here users of Orbi units and we have seen different issues, small and big, which we help each other to solve or find a workaround for!

Re: R50 something

It was connected to Verizon Fios Modem and now it's connected to Comcast modem as of yesterday. It has Netgear Armor on it.  Same problem 404 page and then asks you to login. Sometimes it will let you look at page and sometimes not. Happening to everyone that tries to use the network.

Re: R50 something

It doesn't seem to matter which modem it's connected to or which device you connect to. all the laptops and phones in the house are having a problem. Mac or PC, Android or iPhone.

Re: R50 something

With 1GB service is 144 Mbps really the best speed this system can do? Makes more sense just to plug into the wall.

Re: R50 something

One of the reasons that can cause such strange -unjustifiable- issue is having double NAT in your network. If your ISP modem is acting as a router and does NATing on the incoming WAN traffic then this can cause different issues since Orbi is also doing NATing. You need to check if you have double NAT.
Please open a Command Prompt on any computer attached to Orbi and type:
> tracert 8.8.8.8  (or traceroute 8.8.8.8 if you're using a Mac computer)
1. If you see two private IP addresses listed in the first two hops then you have double NAT. Please check the model of your ISP modem and if you have a manual for it.
2. If you see only one private address and the second hop shows a public address, then you’re all good and we need then to troubleshoot further to find the root cause of the issue,

Re: R50 something

I can return the 2nd batch to Costco, but I'm still stuck with the first batch. Then what? This stuff is supposed to be plug and play. The instructions say so. Plug it in and it works.

One thing to keep in mind, if people such as this, are having problems with what appears to be an issue of TWO routers on the same network, I doubt they understand the term 'NAT'

Please do the following test:

Re: R50 something

Comcast was installed yesterday. I do not have a manual for the modem or know how to do anything to it.

Thank you for this.

The above shows very clearly that you have two routers in your network. Orbi has the IP address range 172.16.0.x and the Comcast has the 10.0.0.x which is causing you the issues you're seeing.

You have two options:

  1. Change Comcast to pass-through or DMZ mode.
  2. Change Orbi to AP Mode. You can change Orbi to AP Mode in the web GUI (orbilogin.com) under >> ADVANCED >> Advanced Setup >> Router / AP Mode
