Re: Satellite 5ghz backhaul details
Please use the following telnet command from the router:
root@RBR50:~# cat /var/satellite_device_info
[{
"mac address": "78:C2:94:xx:xx:xx",
"ip address": "192.168.1.2",
"module name": "RBS50",
"serial number": "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx",
"signal strength": "-97",
"current version": "V2.3.0.32",
"backhaul status": "1",
"device name": "Orbi Satellite-1"
}]

Yes, so in the example above, I have -97 dBM.

To enable telnet in your Orbi Router:
- From browser go to the router's debug page (http://192.168.1.1/debug.htm). Use your router's IP address or http://orbilogin.com/debug.htm
- Enter admin as user name and your router’s management password
- Tick "Enable Telnet" option
- Use Telnet from a computer attached to Orbi to connect to your Router telnet 192.168.1.1 (or your router's IP address) and enter admin and the same password that you used to login to Orbi

That's seriously workable? I would have stated anything in Wi-Fi from -90 dBm and up is unuseable.

🙂 True. I have Ethernet backhaul between router and this satellite and I think that's why the signal strength is not relevant here. I believe if you use this command on a wireless backhaul you would get better values.

Re: Satellite 5ghz backhaul details
thats why I asked the question. -97dBm is certainly not optimal. seems really low.

Ok, now I disconnected my Ethernet cable to the Satellite and got the following:
root@RBR50:/# cat /var/satellite_device_info
[{
"mac address": "78:C2:xx:xx:xx:xx",
"ip address": "192.168.1.2",
"module name": "RBS50",
"serial number": "xxxxxxxxxxxxx",
"signal strength": "-57",
"backhaul status": "1",
"device name": "Orbi Satellite-1",
"current version": "V2.3.0.32"
}]
root@RBR50:/#
So my Satellite's receives -57 dBm backhaul's link signal from the Router when using wireless backhaul. As mentioned earlier the -97 dBm was just a value I got when I had wired backhaul so this value should be irrelevant.
I hope that this helps. 🙂
