Satellite Problems

Two problems:
1. Satellite internet speed drops significantly. The download speed is 3xx Mbps if the device is connected to the “Router”, while it drops to 1x Mbps if the device is connected to the satellite
2. Sometimes the device is connected to the satellite with 5GHz( which is 10m away ) rather than the router with 5GHz, which is 3m away. Which result in bad internet performance.

Here are the settings:
1. Satellite is around 4-5m away from the router with 5GHz connection
2. No other WIFI with the same channel around
3. Location is set to USA
4. Antenna is 100% for 5GHz and 75% for 2.5 GHz

There is no object ( like wall) between router and satellite

A couple things. 

1. The satellites should be at least 10m away from the router for the roaming protocols to function properly. 

2. its your own device that roams between the satellite/router as needed based on its own built in protocols. Some devices are more aggressive than others on how they roam. 

3. Have you tested the wired speed of the satellite to check how well its backhaul is functioning?

I have more concern on the “speed drop” problem, how to fix it? The speed drop is not reasonable.

Did you test it as I suggested in #3?

Thats a good place to start. It allows you to find out if the speed drop is coming because of the backhaul connection or if its a fronthaul issue.

I have checked wired speed
The drop speed also occurs as wifi connection

For both router and satellites wired? 

Have you tried factory resetting the satellite and reinstalling it? 

What firmware is on the router? 
What firmware is on the satellite? 

do you have more than 1 satellite? 

You realize this forum is members of the public helping out in our free time? the less details you give us, the less we can help. 

And if we have to fight to get basic details/testing, we stop helping because I'm not going to fight to try to help someone. so please go a bit more into details. Not just "i checked wired speeds"......that wasn't helpful or beneficial

Two satellites, another satellite (wireless connected through wall with 2.5G) : Wired 5x Mbps

So if you're wired speed to the satellite is the 1xxmbps (hint there's a significant difference from 100mbps to 190mbps) then it means the backhaul is where the bottleneck is. 

Maybe the satellite is to far away. Maybe there's interference in the walls. Maybe another device is causing issues. 

If you swap the 2 satellites around, is it the location thats still slow or the satellite?

Before swap:
Satellite A: 1xMbps (4m from router)
Satellite B: 5x Mbps ( 5-6m from router through wall)

After swap
Satellite A : 3x Mbps ( 5-6m from router through wall)
Satellite B: 7x Mbps (4m from router)

I think both satellites have speed drop problem, maybe Netgear product is not as good as expected.
I think satellite A has some problem, but seems no way to resolve ?

so you're only getting 10-70mbps max? 

You're not missing an X? Please just don't use the X's. Use actual numbers for precision. 

Are you testing those speeds wired into the satellite?

Yes, Wired, wireless is even worse

Wire to router: 300-400 Mbps

Start back from basic. 

Factory reset the router and both satellites. 

Then reinstall just the router. 

Test it and see what wired/wireless speeds you get. 

then add just 1 satellite back and test it. 

If that works, then add the 2nd satellite back and test it.
