Satellite looses connection and has to restart router to fix
What I have observed is that the router still has internet and if I move to a room where router is the closest one, I get internet, but the room with Satelite does not have Internet. Restarting router is the only way to bring internet back.
This happens once every 3-4 days, and I am thinking of returning Orbi and get the Google one. Has anyone faced this ? Does changing wifi channels help ?
I have Orbi and 2 Satelites.
Firmware - V2.1.4.16
Number of devices - 15
Guest Network - Yes
Internet Provider - Comcast Xfinity
This issue affects both main network and guest network.

Re: Satellite looses connection and has to restart router to fix
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
Set up an IP addresss reservation for the satellites ON the router.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials.
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Try disabling the following and see:
MIMO, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

Re: Satellite looses connection and has to restart router to fix
If it was the modem then internet would have stopped working. I still have internet when I move close to room with the main router.
Distance is about 40ft from Router to Satellite. Where does it same Oribi cannot handle more than 30 ft distance? If that's the case I would just get rid of Orbi and move to Google WiFi. This is still within my return Window.

Re: Satellite looses connection and has to restart router to fix
As a test try moving the satellite closer, say 5-10 feet and see. Yes 40 feet is in the realm of working. Mine does. However building materials and external interferences maybe a factor. Also the satellite could just be going bad. Has happend.
Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz...

I don't need a satellite if it has to be in 5-10 feet 🙂

Oops meant to say 5-10 feet closer to the router from where it's at now.

Hi jithin,
We’d greatly appreciate hearing your feedback letting us know if you need further assistance.
There is a new firmware released for RBK50. Kindly update the firmware to 2.2.1.210.

Re: Satellite looses connection and has to restart router to fix
If you updated to recent FW v.210, try enabling Daisy Chain. Some have mentioned that this seems to be working in reverse order, enabling means disabled actually. Hoping NG support can have a look at this. So try this out as well.

I've updagraded to new firmware. Will monitor my setup for couple of weeks to see if this is stable.

Not sure if it's the new version or the adjustments I did earlier, I'm not seeing this issue anymore.

Re: Satellite looses connection and has to restart router to fix
If you changed the Daisy Chain to enabled with a chk mark in this verison, this maybe it. Glad it's working better now.
Enjoy.
