Satellite only connects with 2.4Ghz

This is very strange, I've had my Orbi system for a few months now and it worked fine until 2 days ago. I have the router and 2 satellites, one is wired and one uses the wireless backhaul. The wirelessly connected one has always been on 5G and showing "Good" connection status. 2 days ago we had an internet outage, when I came home internet still did not work, so I power cycled the Arris modem, waited a few minutes, but still no internet. I power cycled the router and the Internet came back. The wired satellite also came back online (i.e. I can access internet from devices connected to it), but the wireless satellite has reconnected on 2.4Ghz and is not moving back to 5Ghz. I have tried power cycling again the router and the satellite, I have tried clicking the "Sync" button and I have also tried moveing the satellite a few feet away from the router. Even 5-6 ft away from the router it still connects in 2.4Ghz. I now placed the satellite back to its original position (where it always worked in 5Ghz), and it's still connecting in 2.4Ghz.

I had in the past had to power off and later power back on the Orbi system and it all worked nicely.

Is there some suggest path for me to make them reconnect at the highest speed?

Please don't suggest factory reset. Thank you 😉

swap out the wired satellite for the wireless satellite and see how it goes.

Re: Satellite only connects with 2.4Ghz

I don't know if this proves flakiness of the system, but swapping the two satellites fixed the issue. I am tempted to swap them again to see if the wireless one remains on 5Ghz, but I'm too lazy and afraid it won't work 😉

Re: Satellite only connects with 2.4Ghz

The reason I had you swap was to see if the problem followed or not. It's possible that the one RBS could be faulty and may need to be replaced...

Re: Satellite only connects with 2.4Ghz

I swapped them again and it looks like that one satellite only connects in 2.4Ghz. I have moved it back on the wired connection and the second satellite is happily connected with 5Ghz and the Web UI shows a good connection. I'll see about replacement.

Re: Satellite only connects with 2.4Ghz

You can see it in the interface of the router. If you use the app, at least on iOS you only see a colored dot next to the satellite, it changes based on the quality of the connection, green is good, in my case I saw magenta which means poor.
