Security Concern - Guest network allows to access local resources
with "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network " turned OFF,
netgear Router Orbi RBR50 is allowing device connected on Guest network to
access devices connected to LAN. I've a NAS connected to one of the
LAN port of RBR50.
I thought disabling option - "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network "
would disable access to guest but its allowing them to connect to the NAS and
read/play files.
Isnt this option when turned off supposed to isolate access? or my understanding is wrong?

Re: Security Concern - Guest network allows to access local resources
It will help if you identify the firmware release number on the Orbi router.
There was an issue with Guest not being separated from the primary network, which people reported had been fixed in a firmware update.
Knowing exactly which firmware you have is critical.
Thanks

Sure. Below is the firmware of router and satellites
Router RBR50 Orbi Router V2.3.5.30 Satellite RBS50 Orbi Satellite-1 V2.2.1.210 Satellite RBW30 Orbi Satellite-2 V2.3.5.6 Satellite RBW30 Orbi Satellite-3 V2.3.5.6

Re: Security Concern - Guest network allows to access local resources
The RBS50 satellite should be the same firmware as the RBR50 router. You need to update the satellite from 2.2.1.210 to 2.3.5.30. After the update do a factory reset and reconfigure your system from scratch (not from a backup config file). I know it is a PITA but that's the best way to get rid of potential conflicting remnants of previous firmwares. That should clear up the guest network access issue.

Re: Security Concern - Guest network allows to access local resources
RBS50 has been disconnected for the last 8 months. I'm no longer using this satellite. Disconnected it from RBR50 and Guest networks isolates access to local resources now. Appreciate your suggestion.

Well, this is a new one. I am confused by the term "disconnected". The RBS50 has been powered off for 8 months, and "disconnecting" it from the RBR50 is what caused the Guest firewall to operate correctly?
