I was setting up my mesh wifi today and along the way i automatically updated the FWs and long story short it didn't turn out well. MY router-wiki is up but can't link to sattelite as it's apparently the FW is corrupted. (red flash on power led) and blinks white ring.
Support recommends me sending it back but i hear some people fixed it using the steps in the link https://kb.netgear.com/000059633/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-TFTP-client
Question is, how? as the steps are for the router and not sattelite.
What do you do differently if its a sattelite problem.
This person seemed to have done it somehow https://www.reddit.com/r/orbi/comments/9dvtz5/orbi_satellite_corrupt_firmware/

I would try this first on the RBS:
What you need to do is factory reset the RBS. Wire connect a PC to the 1st satellite. Already have the most current FW version files downloaded on to this PC.
Wire connect 1 PC to the back of the RBS. Factory reset the RBS, wait about 5 minutes. The PC will get a IP address from the satellite. The RBS will be 192.168.1.250. Use this IP address in a web browser to log in to the satellites web page. Log in as admin and password. Use the satellites web page FW update feature to select the FW update file that was unpacked from the .zip file. Then factory reset and then re-sync the satellites to the RBR.

Re: orbi rbs50 FW corruption
If the power LED on the satellite pulses red, it may in fact be "toast" and need replacement:

I have used the TFTP process to force firmware to an Orbi satellite, but it was 10 months ago. The key to the process is that only the satellite and the computer are connected to each other. Neither is connected to anything else. The computer is set to a static IP address, which should be 192.168.1.(anything besides 1 or 250).
The part I cannot remember is if the satellite thinks of itself as 192.168.1.1 when it is "stuck" or if it is 192.168.1.250. You may have to try both of them.
The process is certainly a chore, and may take more than one attempt to "take". The only way you recognize success is when the TFTP program progress bar says that the firmware file has been totally flashed.
This is certainly faster than waiting for a product replacement. If you flail away at it and are not successful, you can then take Netgear up on the replacement offer.
