orbi won't connect to echo or roku after power outage

I have Orbi RBR40 mini router.  After power outage, it won't connect to Roku or Echo.  On Roku it says it's connected, but then won't load any streaming services. But it is working because iPad and phone are connected.  I've tried resets.

Re: orbi won't connect to echo or roku after power outage

What FW is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode?

Do you get internet access to web sites and such with wired PC?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials.

Re: orbi won't connect to echo or roku after power outage

Power cuts usually take out the modem, the router and everything else on a network. When the power comes back on, they may start up in the wrong order, with the router starting before the modem is ready, for example. That means that they get confused about which is in charge.

It may help to reboot the whole network in the right order, as specified by Netgear's manuals.

Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

  • Turn off and unplug modem.
  • Turn off router and computers.
  • Plug in modem and turn it on. Wait 2 minutes.
  • Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes.
  • Turn on computers and other stuff on the network.

Re: orbi won't connect to echo or roku after power outage

On the echo, recommend you treat it as a change of wifi networks.

This procedure is very easy -- and fast...

  • make sure your Echo is plugged in to power and fully booted
  • Open the Alexa app.

  1. In the Alexa app, open the left navigation panel and then select Settings.
  2. Select your device and then select Update Wi-Fi. If you're adding a new device to your account, select Set up a new device instead.
  3. On your Echo device, press and hold the Action button until the light ring changes to orange.Your mobile device will then connect to your Echo device. A list of available Wi-Fi networks appear in the app.

Note: The Alexa app may ask you to manually connect your device to your Echo device through your Wi-Fi settings.

  4. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the network password (if required). If you don't see your Wi-Fi network, scroll down and select Add a Network (for hidden networks) or Rescan.

  5. MAC address: If you need to add your Alexa device to your router's list of approved devices, scroll down on this screen until you see the MAC address.

    • Optional - Save your Wi-Fi password to Amazon: Any Wi-Fi passwords saved during setup automatically appear when you connect a new Alexa device to the same Wi-Fi network. The password is also remembered if you switch between saved Wi-Fi networks.
  6. Select Connect. After your device connects to your Wi-Fi network, a confirmation message appears in the app and your Echo says it is connected

See if that fixes the Echo.

This procedure seems long, but it really is about 30 seconds.
