RBK850 Routeur LAN configuration

Hi

I configured an RBK850 (without satellites for the present time) connected to ans ISP router (network 192.168.1.<x> with HDCP server). So, at the end of installation, my orbi network is 10.0.0.<x>. Wifi and LAN connections are working well and only one PC is connected to ORBI router with an Ethernet cable.

I want to change the ORBI network to 192.168.2.<x>. So, I made the following modification
- IP @ : 192.168.2.2
- Mask : 255.255.255.0
- DHCP from 192.168.2.10 to 192.168.2.254

When I apply the modification, the router is restarted, the LED is white blinking during 1 mn and it restarts again and again. I've to reset it with default settings to stop the restart cycle.

How to do such modification ? (it works perfectly on an old netgear router).

Thanks
  Thierry

PS : firmware version : V3.2.18.1

Re: RBK850 Routeur LAN configuration

Did you power OFF the ISP router for 30 seconds then back on as well after you applied the change?

Can you bridge the host router by chance? This is a double NAT condtion...

Re: RBK850 Routeur LAN configuration

Yes, I powered off the ISP router and I can access to internet. I just received an answer for neatgear support

It seems the router DOES NOT support to have a 192.168.2.2 IP @. If I choose 192.168.2.1, it seems it’s working well.

I will continue tomorrow (11 PM in France now) And I will give you more information later. I lost several hours with the pb

Thanks

Re: RBK850 Routeur LAN configuration

I now mine works on 192.168.0.1. I've never tried 2.1 though...Hmmm.

Have a good night.

Re: RBK850 Routeur LAN configuration

Hi,

Just for information, with a router IP @ of 192.168.2.1 instead of 192.168.2.2, everything are working well.

After this modification, I successfully
- desactivate the router DHCP fonction (used instead a DHCP located on my network)

- add two additional satellites

So, it seems there is a bug in the orbi firmware which doesn’t support 192.168.2.2 as router address

Best regards

Re: RBK850 Routeur LAN configuration

AH ya, Ok. I  presume the RBRs IP address should always be .0 or .1. Maybe something NG put in. Most routers IP address usually end  in .1  anyways.

Glad it's working now. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves tine if a reset is needed.

Please mark your thread as solved so others will know.

Enjoy.
