pre sales advice Orbi RBK 753

Hi I am thinking of upgrading my wifi ro WIFI 6. I was looking at the Orbi RBK753 I live in the UK. My ISP is Plusnet and I am on FTTC connection. My current router/modem/wifi is a Billion BiPAK8800AXL

I was looking at with help getting the Billion put into bridge mode and the connect the Orbi to that. Will this work? I was looking at the 3 pack and the 2 satalites would be connected via ethernet at varoius points arounf my property.

Thanks Chris

Re: pre sales advice Orbi RBK 753

For modmes with built in routers...This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Possible however thats something to ask your ISP about to see what there requirements are. If thats something they support then the RBR should work in it's place. Contact the ISP first and get this information.

Re: pre sales advice Orbi RBK 753

They did say that as long the router was Fiber enabled, FTTP or FTTC then it should be ok. Cant find this info on the netgear site though. Thanks Chris

Re: pre sales advice Orbi RBK 753

Ya, thats not something Orbi systems support. So you'll need to use there Modem/ONT as the interface to there services and connect the RBR to the modem/ONT. RBK systems don't have built in modems/ONT. Only the CBR40 and CBR750 have built in cable modems and these work only on cable ISPs, not Fiber/FTTC.

What model are you referring too? A router or a modem?
