RBR20 system with streaming problem on Vodafone NZ

Dear mates,

I newly switched to Vodafone NZ. There is a problem that the streaming of MS Teams, Zoom, Youtube or Nintendo Switch gaming.

The streaming will stop, freeze, lost voice channel for about 5-10 sec.

I checked the VLAN = 10, priority = 0, IPV4 and IPV6 assigned from Vodafone, MTU =1500. Speed test with 320MPS download and 110MPS upload.

The weird figure is Ping. When it freeze happen, I ran the Speed test, the test also freeze. And the ping could up to 28ms.... it's looks like the system is looking for something, maybe somewhere for address and all the device are in this waiting mode. After that  5-10 sec lost, it recovered, the download and upload back to normal.

Does anyone face this issue please? Do we have any other setting in RBR20 could help ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers,

Freddie

Hello Freddie18,

Welcome to the NETGEAR Community!

I understand that you are having network stability issues with your RBR20 on Firmware version 2.7.3.22.

Please manually update your RBR20 to the current Firmware version 2.7.4.24 then check to see if the problem persists.

Re: RBR20 system with streaming problem on Vodafone NZ

Thanks Kevin.

I did the manual upgrade firmware last night after received the email from Netgear.

After upgrade, it is noticeable that the IP address changes to Vodafone's address range. I guess the old firmware version was kept engaging the former ISP IP address range.

We tried a few online streaming activities in the same time last night and It looks problem resolved.

In case of the problem remains, please allow me to post again.

Thanks a lot.

Re: RBR20 system with streaming problem on Vodafone NZ

Dear Plemans,

There is standard ONT (https://www.chorus.co.nz/q/model-type-200) and direct connect to the RBR20 with a Cat5 cable.

There is an option to spend a couple hundred bugs to get a router from Vodafone but I choice to direct with ORBI to save more.

Cheers,

Freddie

The clue could be in your first message:

I newly switched to Vodafone NZ.

When you change your ISP it is a good idea to reset your hardware to make it forget any settings from the old ISP.

Reset the thing and it forces you to enter the right details for the new ISP.

The firmware update reboots the RBR20 which may have also rebuilt that setting.
