GS716T - Fiber Module

[GaACETech]

Two new small offices (<10 devices each).   Fiber between the two switches (< 500').

Purchased the GS716T.   

The fiber is being terminated with ST connectors.

What fiber modules are suggested for the above?  (Normally I would use a external fiber to ethernet converter.  This project has not been normal...)

Absolutley industry standard using SFP modules for fiber links 8-)

The hard work first: You have to figure out what kind of fiber is in place.Markings and colouring does help.

Based on this, you can select single mode or multimode SFP module (Netgear's reference listing -> https://www.netgear.com/business/wired/switches/accessories ) - for SFP look for 1000BASE-SX AGM731F or 1000BASE-LX AGM732F and order the matching patch cables. An LC/PC connector is required on the SFP module end. 

Needless to say, beyond of the right fiber technology, the same frequency (colour) is required on both ends.

Netgear does not enforce exact vendor IDs (very different on the more expensive networking hardware makers!) and does commonly work with third party OEM modules.
