I don't really need these log files (esp. backup finished, etc) so it would be great disabling the OS logging generally if possible.

You can go in and delete your backup job logs under Backup in Frontview if you want, but no you can't turn off logging.

If you were to encounter a problem the logs could be essential for troubleshooting the problem.
