Unable to login to readynas rn31400 after changing HTTP settings.

I was trying to setup my RN 31400 as a web server. Being unfamiliar with the procedures, I went to the netgear help page for guidance.  I went through the steps outlines in their procedures, but when I came to the setup for HTTP, there was a discrepancy between their setup procedures and what I could do.  Their instruction page shows HTTP Setting with only 1 checkbox for"enable HTTP".  My HTTP Settings page had 2 checkboxes 1-"Enable HTTP" and 2-"Enable HTTP Admin".  I enabled HTTP, left enable HTTP Admin un-checked, and set the re-direct web access to the folder on the RN31400.  After I went through all the procedures, I attempted to access the website folder with IE.  It didn't work..., so I just quit trying.  Then I tried to log back in to the RN31400 using Raidar 6.0.  I could not access the admin page.  I am using OS 6.5 if it matters, but what I would like to know is, what file in the nas contains the setup for the HTTP section.  I have WINSCP and can access it with that.  I get the feeling I should have enabled HTTP Admin, and now I'am looking for a little assistance.  Any help would be appreciated!

Hi NASty1,

I apologize if you have to reset the unit in order to access the admin page. As StephenB said, you could've tried to access it via https://NAS-IP or https://hostname (which is the default). I also agree that our manual should be updated and more clear about HTTP/HTTPS admin access.

Didn't try https, maybe should have.  I tried re-installing the OS.  That didn't work.  So, I just re-formatted the nas.  I got too frustrated!  I'am really not happy with NETGEAR.  They can't seem to keep up with their own updates!  I mean, how can you update a system or procedure, and NOT update the setup instructions for it?  I was trying to set up a web server, and was following their instructions to the letter.  Do they even bother to test their updates before they release them? , or are we all just guinea pigs for their amusement!  Thanks for responding, and I apoligize for my impatience!  Might as well mark it as closed!

https would almost certainly have worked.

I agree they need to improve their guides - many predate OS-6, and even the newer ones could use some refreshing.
