NETGEAR AC 1200 MODEL 6120
When computer connected directly to modem internet speed is greater than 200 Mbps. When connected to router (NETGEAR AC 1200 MODEL 6120) internet speed drops TO less than 100 Mbps. What can be done to correct this problem?

@microchip8 is exactly correct. You bought a router that isn't gigabit capable.
Its fast ethernet only meaning its connections are 10/100mbps.
You'd need to upgrade to a gigabit router to utilize your speeds.
Or downgrade your speeds and stick with 100mbps.

Buy a new decent router. The R6120 has only 100 Mbps ports
