I've owned a Netgear N600 for almost exactly 1.5 years, it has worked fine until last week. I use a wired connection even though it is a wireless router.
Symptoms: On regular 240 second or 120 second intervals, no data goes through the router for ~5 seconds - then immediately goes back to normal. Buffered media streaming is not impacted. However, when gamaing this manifests in huge spikes. Sometimes I can receive data but not send data for a longer (~10second) period.
Diagnostics I've done: Restarted modem and router - does not work.
Changed ethernet cable from port 1 on the router to port 2 - did not work.
Plugged my PC's ethernet directly into the modem - worked. Had it plugged into the router for over 3 hours and no lapses in data flow. When I switched back the issue resurfaced immediately.
This happens with extreme consistency throughout the day, and does not happen when my pc is plugged directly into my modem via an ethernet cable.
Just tried a firmware upgrade to no avail.
Once again, this happens when wired via ethernet directly into my router or on wifi. I primarily use a wired connection.
Customer support is blaming this on a "config issue" even though I have not touched any settings on the router admin console, neither recently or when I first got it.
