Nighthawk AC2300 Remote access stopped working

I turned on remote access using the default port 8443. I was able to access my router remotely for a few days. However, now when I try to access the router it never connects.

this was my first time enabling remote access. Any ideas on what I did wrong?

thanks

    What did you actually do?

What do you want to achieve with remote access?

    What Netgear hardware is this?

AC2300 is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.

Look at the label on the device for the model number.

Remote access is giving way to Anywhere Access.

Sorry about the minimal router info. Im currently not at the router location. I wanted to have remote access to my router so I could reboot it. I need to try to reboot remotely because sometimes there are power failures or loss of internet. After this happens several times in a few months none of my WiFi devices get reconnected to my router.

I have to physically go to the location and reboot the router in order for everything to connect again

Any form of remote access depends on having an Internet connection at the receiving end. Without that you are stuffed.

To reboot when there is an Internet connection, you might do better to investigate Anywhere Access and the mobile apps.

I have one. It supports Anywhere Access.

PS Register the R7000P with MyNetgear and you won't have to guess what devices you own.

  • I bought a device called Keep Connect. This device is a WiFi power plug that monitors the internet status and reboots if a internet connection is lost. Highly customizable and has rebooted my router 2 times so far
