Quick network setup.
Router 1 = R6300v2 it connects to cable modem and is DHCP server.
ip 192.168.1.1
DHCP ip range 192.168.1.51 - 100
this router has two wired and two wireless clients.
Router 2 = R6300v2 setup in wirelss bridge mode connected via 5ghz to router 1
assigned static ip of 192.168.1.2
no clients connect to this router other than router 3 and the switch below.
Router 3 = R6220 wired bridge directly to router 2.
DHCP server disabled
assigned static ip of 192.168.1.4
all wireless clients connect to this router
Switch = GS108 wired bridge directly to router 2.
All wired clients are connected to this switch.
The R6300v2 routers are running V1.0.4.8_10.0.77 firmware
The R6220 router has V 1.1.0.34_1.0.1 firmware.
The swtich is an unmanaged switch so not sure what it has or if anythimg can be changed/upgraded on it.
The issue is router 1 quits assigned IP addresses or stops communicating with devices that are already assigned IP addresses at random times.
This issue has been noticed on mainly on four devices but it can migrate. All devices receive thier connection after router 2. Anything in front of the wireless bridge still receive ip addresses.
When this issue occurs is usually after a client device goes to sleep.
I have resolved the issue with my window devices by simply not allowing the network cards to be turned off when they sleep but I have several android devices that leave the network daily. When they return to the network they will show up on the attached devices list but the device name will show -- when they cant connect to the internet. When working properly these devices will usually show Android-(serial number here).
On two different occassions I have had this happen and resolved the issue by upgrading the firmware on Router 1 and 2 but there has been not update to the firmware lately and this issue has seemed to happen more often since the last update.
The last several times this problem has occurred I resolved the issue by doing a factory restore on all routers and reconfigured all routers.
I am curious as to why the issue is occuring.
Maybe I am wrong but it seems like the configuration of the routers is getting corrupted some how.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
