If you managed to force the wrong firmware on to the router, you may have bust it.

The router usually stops you from doing that.

What dies he power LED look like?

As @Kitsap suggests, a manual update is the safest.

Off with the cap-lock key, no need to shout.  Go to the Downloads section above and feed in the model number of your router.

Strongly recommend your use a manual update method like described here:  https://kb.netgear.com/23960/How-do-I-manually-update-the-firmware-on-my-NETGEAR-router

Avoid automatic updates or updates via an application on a mobile device.

That was a great answer for that how about if you can't access your router how do upload it with another website or source
