WNR2000v2 router connected to Viasat router - what LAN IP address should my Netgear router use?
Sorry if this is a network newbie sort of question.... I've got internet access thru Viasat, and my LAN router (Netgear WNR2000v2) is connected to it. The Viasat router is IP address 192.168.1.1 which is the internet gateway. I've got 193.168.1.1 as the IP address of my Netgear router, and it is acting as DHCP server on the LAN. I've got 193.168.1.2 thru 254 as my IP address pool, and 255.255.255.0 as my subnet mask.
I keep getting "your IP address is showing" messages from my internet security software, and have gotten other indications that this is not a secure setup.
I've done some web search research, but am feeling a bit complicated by the connection to the Viasat router - nothing I find seems to address that sort of configuration.
I think I need a little guidance, and have the following questions:
Should I change my Netgear IP addrress? If so, to what?
Should I simply change the DHCP IP address pool on the Netgear router?
Any suggestions would be welcome - thanks in advance.
All fixed up. There were two issues, double NAT configuration and a public IP address on the Netgear router. Bridge mode now enabled on the Viasat router, and Netgear router given private IP address and address pool.

This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.- GBallantyneAspirant
Thanks - this gives me a few things to look at. I also see by reading your response I have a little more learning to do to understand it.... but learning is a good thing.
