Try unbricking it with the tftp method, there's videos on youtube on how to do it. You'll need to download the program tftp2.exe, and the firmware you want to install on it when debricking it.

NO! That is a not necessary and could be dangerous.
All Windows and Mac operating systems released over the past decade have TFTP built in. You just have to enable it.

There may be ways of sorting this out, but not without more useful information and knowledge of what you actually own.
There is no such thing as an "ax40" in Netgear's product line.
Even if you are just here to rant, no one will have a clue what you are talking about. They certainly won't be able to buy an ax40.
