A7000 Usb3.0 Adaptor wifi ping spikes

I had this wifi adapter for a while and I managed to fix this issue a long time ago but all of the sudden my wifi adapter stopped working as efficiently as before. I used to be able to run discord perfectly fine but now I can barely stay in the call and I notice the ping spiking to 1000 to 5000 every 10 - 20 seconds. Is there a fix? because I know this adapter used to work when I used discord and games but it stopped working yesterday on 11/16/2024 randomly

I have had the same issue, and just noticed it today - has there been a windows update or change since then to have caused this issue?

My latest update is KB5046613 - what was yours? I'm going to try and uninstall to see if it works again.

Re: A7000 Usb3.0 Adaptor wifi ping spikes

Ok so I uninstalled KB5046613 and restarted, it showed no change.

I did however follow the instructions and download the file from this page:

https://kb.netgear.com/000055980/A7000-Software-Version-1-0-0-15-Windows?article=000055980

After I downloaded and extracted the file, I decided to uninstall the device and remove drivers in device manager so it could not recognise the device anymore.

Then I unplugged the A7000, waited about 30 seconds, replugged it in, and then ran the standalone file from the download which re-installed drivers for it.

I've been using pingplotterr to monitor performance.

The red bar is when I uninstalled, removed and reinstalled device.

The left side is the ping/latency when I had issues (you can see it hitting high 1000ms)

The right side is after reinstall (ignore the 2 red ping spikes, that was me changing another setting so expected).

So it looks to have fixed it for now? I'll keep an eye out.

Re: A7000 Usb3.0 Adaptor wifi ping spikes

After letting it run a couple more minutes, the performance looks to be stabilised again, staying below 10ms. Performance attached below. Hope this helps you!

I also found the issues when gaming and using discord.

I'll monitor it further tomorrow and update here if anything happens. Let me know how it goes for you?

Re: A7000 Usb3.0 Adaptor wifi ping spikes

Next day update, all looks to be well. Ping/Latency under 10ms with a random spike now and again which i'm attributing to my own router issue but looks to have fixed the other issue. Will try a game later with discord and update!

Im still having the same issues I noticed my wifi completely turns off or it says connected but no internet when I stream on discord. I also notice it spiked really hard after a couple of minutes.

Re: A7000 Usb3.0 Adaptor wifi ping spikes

I have had issues previously I noticed when I game, but not when I'm just browsing that showed a spike every minute or so. Apparently it was the device disconnecting from the wifi to try to find a better connection or something, but it is driven by a windows setting.

Maybe try, in CMD:

netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface="WiFi"

to turn it back on (make sure to turn it back on when you are finished otherwise when you restart PC, it won't find any networks!) use the below command

netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=yes interface="WiFi"

where "WiFi" is the name of your network adapter.

If you're not too sure, just google the command to validate what i'm mentioning, a lot of gamers notice because of the spikes, I noticed because of CSGO 🙂
