Need help please
So my desktop needs an external wifi adapter for the internet to work. I accidentally broke my last one and just bought the netgear ac1200. It won’t connect to my router when I plug it in and the instructions say I need to download and install their software but I can’t download or install their software because I can’t connect to the router to get internet. I’m just wondering if I’m missing something here. If I already had access to my internet to download this software I wouldn’t need the adapter to begin with. This makes zero sense to me.

Which one?
ac1200 is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.
Look at the label on the device for the model number. A6150?

I can’t download or install their software because I can’t connect to the router to get internet. You can download the files to anything that can connect to the Internet. You can even use mobile phione to get the files.
Visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Look for the model number on the label on the device.
That page will have any software, firmware and drivers for your device.
You can then transfer the files to a USB drive, insert that into the PC and install the drivers.
