Netgear a7000 adapter not connecting to pc for drivers to recognize it

I recently got a new pc and have been jumping through the hoops of getting windows 11 installed and I finally have:) but when i switched my machines i still wanted to use my wifi adapter even though my motherboard lets me connect to wifi its rather weak and the speeds are slower than my last machine. Which had faster speeds and couldnt connect to wifi standalone and was running windows 10. Ive tested my laptop running windows 11 and can connect to wifi by itself but wont see the adapter connected for the drivers as well so is it the fact that I can connect to wifi without it or windows 11 os. Please let me know ive tried almost everything to basic troubleshoot, the a7000 also still works on my old machine after all this trouble shooting so its leading me to believe its most likely a software issue over hardware (the a7000).

The A7000 Downlods (for Windows at least) contin two different kits:

  • The key one is the "SA" standalone kit containing only the drivers, allowing to use and configure the A7000 from the ubiquitous windows controls.
  • The one wiith the Genie utility is a obsolete design based on Windows 3.11 ideas, avoid.

Yes this is the drivers I used and i used both the basic and standalone version but the program wont detect the net gear adapter as plugged into my pc. I've also updated all of my usb drivers and tested it on my old pc so the usb should be working fine if plugging other things into them powers them on aswell as the adapter cause it powers on for my other machine. But i was unsure if it was windows 11 or the fact my computer already has a Wi-Fi connection because those seem to be the only two possibilities. The only real other option that i can think of is that it is somehow linked with my other pc because it has the drivers on for that pc so maybe uninstalling the drivers with it plugged in could fix it.

Update deleting the drivers from my old pc did not fix my current issue so its not "linked" id say.

On Windows 11 - better since Windows 7, 8, and 10 - scratch the historic Genie "Program", uninstall it - only install the standalone (SA) drivers, and use the Windows standrd controls, eg. for Connect to a Wi-Fi network in Windows.

Simply use the Windows 11 controls ... Uninstall or remove apps and programs in Windows

The A7000 is an USB (3.0) UPnP device.

In case your PC does have both USB 2.x and USB3.x ports, to differentiate where both types are availble, the later 3.x ones are typically marked with a blue insert while the older USB 2.x tech ones are black.

What does not work when it comes to the uninstallation process?

Very often, there is an uninstall application link at the same loction where those legacy programs are installed:

I dont have a netgear genie folder just a regular netgear folder and i can only remove it with help from the drivers itself

Re: Netgear a7000 adapter not connecting to pc for drivers to recognize it

If the Genie program was installed on your new Windows 11 system the files as shown almost certainly exist.

As you are operating a decent Windows OS (newer than the legacy 30 ... .11, 7) there is no reson to use these utilities.

Still confused why you think you have to uninstall the A7000 drivers.

Does the A7000 not show up in the Windows Device Manger?

To open Device Manager:

  • Press the Windows logo key and the R key simultaneously. This should open a Run Box.
  • Type: devmgmt.msc.
  • Click OK or press the Enter key.
    Device Manager opens.
