Re: CPU temp on PRO 6 (pioneer edition) on os 6.0 - 6.4.1
Yes, all standart unit without memory (4Gb) and CPU fun (I'm installed Noiseblocer 120 mm - very cool, 30-37 C on 4.2.28). I want this temp on OS 6 !)
No new programm - only transmission and system info

@walshlink...just for my curiousity. What were your normal temperatures, and with what OS version?
And what do you have now?

Re: CPU temp on PRO 6 (pioneer edition) on os 6.0 - 6.4.1
6.4.0 sat at 48C idle...did not really climb much if at all during normal usage
6.4.1 sits at 51C idle...have not paid attention to temps for normal usage, but if I scrub volume CPU temp climbs 25C in 3 mins...not sure that is even possible to climb that fast...
Model: ReadyNAS Pro 6 (RNDP6000-200)
Upgraded CPU: Intel Xeon X3230
Memory: 4 GB
HDD: 4x Hitachi 2TB
Upgraded System Fan: Noctua NF-P12 PWM - 120mm
Upgraded CPU Fan: Noctua NF-R8 PWM - 80mm

Re: CPU temp on PRO 6 (pioneer edition) on os 6.0 - 6.4.1
Just for the record, I bought my pimped up unit (Q6600) as it is now... but the previous owner tinkered with it and the rear fan was in reverse, so I had the CPU constantly at 80-85 degrees, and went up to 105 degrees under load.
I reversed the rear fan, then I got immediately to numbers that are very similar to yours.

Re: CPU temp on PRO 6 (pioneer edition) on os 6.0 - 6.4.1
My RNP6 with E7500 CPU still runs mid 30 deg C at idle under 6.4.1. Temp can increase very quickly when under load (up to 50deg in less than 2 minutes), but then my CPU fan ramps up to 3500 rpm and controls it.
Edit - actually if I run stress on multiple cores the cpu temp can jump to 55+ within a minute. That got the cpu fan up to 4200rpm.

Re: CPU temp on PRO 6 (pioneer edition) on os 6.0 - 6.4.1
My E7600 pro-6 idles at about 37 deg. One thing that I done a couple of times is open it and blow out the cpu cooler and fan. That thing seems to collect a lot of dust in my house.

You can override the minimum fan speed with a higher setting by creating a flag file with the value you want as has been mentioned before.

Re: CPU temp on PRO 6 (pioneer edition) on os 6.0 - 6.4.1
mdgm et al,
I am using these fans:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006GD30UC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006I6HMXI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00
CPU fan runs at 727 RPM at idle or load (so here is a problem)
System fan runs at 1259 RPM at idle or load (so here is a problem)
So it looks like my fans are not responding to temp changes...anyone got ideas how fix this? Or recommendations for different fans? I originally bought these looking to put better fans in the system to handle the increased temp...

Re: CPU temp on PRO 6 (pioneer edition) on os 6.0 - 6.4.1
I am changing CPU fan to Delta and System fan to a faster spinning Noctura..hopefully that fixes the issue.

Hi @mdgm-ntgr
Can you assist us newbees 🙂 to how and where to create the flag file to raise the minimum fan speeds? Please? 😄

From SSH.
# echo 1200 > /etc/frontview/min_fan_speed_override
sets the minimum fan speed to 1200 rpm.

Re: CPU temp on PRO 6 (pioneer edition) on os 6.0 - 6.4.1
Does anyone know if the CPU fan on the RNP 6 is designed to suck air in or blow air out? I had it installed to blow air out and temps would be very high. I reversed it to suck air in and it is nice and cool now.

I do not have experience with SSH. I installed the program "Shell in a box" for SSH correct
But nothing I can do ...
Prompt step by step how to change this setting. Perhaps you need to know what else the team that would fix this setting? Or other programs? I apologize for my ignorance

Note that what you typed didn't match the sample.
# echo 1200 > /etc/frontview/min_fan_speed_override
# echo 1200 > /etc/frontview/min fan speed override
You entered spaces in the file name, and you should have entered underscores.

Re: CPU temp on PRO 6 (pioneer edition) on os 6.0 - 6.4.1
ok. I used this command. But it changes the momentum of the system fan (rear fan). CPU fan rpm has not changed ...
Do you know the command what can change the rpm of CPU fan?
