Re: How to erase all data but not a factory default
What NAS do you have and what firmware is it running?
Also, what is your purpose? Prep the NAS for sale? Or something else?

Re: How to erase all data but not a factory default
I have a ReadyNAS DUO, with firmware RAIDiator 4.1.12.
I have run it during some years as a time machine backup but now i can not find it anymore in time machine.
I can access to it and thinking of format the drive and begin from a blank HDD. But not delete all setttings in it.

Re: How to erase all data but not a factory default
It would be simpler to do the reset, and reconfigure - esp. if you might have old time machine backups on there that you don't see anymore.
