Multiple Share Types, Performance & Use
I've seen several threads over the years on the share types and their performance for Mac OS X, but now under Yosemite I'm seeing something I haven't noticed before: If I use "Connect to" in the finder and put in afp://192.168.15.254/Share, it mounts the share listed with no suffix instead of the one labeled AFP. However, when I then go to click on the AFP share and mount it, I then get two different mounts of the same share and the one labeled AFP is much faster. Whatever happens on the one without a suffix, I can't tell, and what I notice is that the one without a suffix sometimes has trouble pulling up directories. I assumed that the one without the suffix was NFS or something.
Can someone help me figure out what I should be using? Thanks!
