My Ready NAS starts by itself
When I turn on the power from the 240volt plug in the wall, my ReadyNAS OS 6 starts up. I only want to start it from time to time, by pressing its on/off button, not every time I turn on my 240v wall socket.

You're not the first one to want this
This is locked into the bios settings, and Netgear provides no way to change them. The workaround is to connect the NAS to a UPS. Then as far as the NAS is concerned the power is always up, so the NAS will only reboot when you tell it to. The only other option is to unplug the NAS after you power it down.
FWIW, I always recommend using a UPS anyway - a lot of "I lost my data" stories begin with a power cut.
