ReadyDR shares and consumed space

ReadyDR shares and consumed space

Hi!

I have created multiple ReadyDR Jobs and they were running and backing up to a second local volume... But under shares all the ReadyDR shares do consume nothing but the usage of date for the volume shows the (correct ??) value.

It would be fine if I can see which space each share consumes Smiley Happy

Re: ReadyDR shares and consumed space

Hallo FramerV,

Also: Factory Reset...

Hello FramerV,

I reply here now just in German, I'm more easily by hand: smileyhappy:

You wrote me as a PM that I should turn the problem on the support, I've also done that and it was promptly entered on the problem and opened a "case". Suggest I should send my log files and open the device support (lab), both done, but then mention in the forest: smileyfrustrated:

I had still a further, much worse problem in another thread, see here, what Skywalker solve only via remote, but again turned up after a few days, even leading the unit in the boot at approx. 12% stuck and no longer started... So: Factory reset...

After the new set up of ReadyDR shares and was the first backup space of"consumed" is still at 0 bytes. Because I have different internally but set the volumes, do I use the 'backup' volume for video streaming and have installed a normal share on the volume.

Since the ReadDR shares will show up correctly... The ReadDR shares are displayed with 0 so only if there are only ReadyDR shares. What also shows you the problem could turn to, as source and target are on the same with you.

Re: ReadyDR shares and consumed space

Hi Xatosch,

ReadyDR works by backing up btrfs snapshots and sending them to the ReadyDR share. As far as I can tell, there is a possibility that you have no snapshots enabled on the source directory.

Checking your ReadyDR history should help you further determine if the job is really doing the back-up or if its just idle.

Here is a link on how to setup your share for an automatic snapshot:

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23353

You can also manually take a snapshot by right-clicking the share and selecting the Snapshot then putting a custom name.

Re: ReadyDR shares and consumed space

Hi FramerV,

ReadyDR works as expected, for each source share is a job available and they are woking when a snapshot is taken. As you can see in the image "audiobook_bak" is a ReadyDR share which has 23 snapshots. The volume "backup" contains only ReadyDR shares and on the left side of the image all shares are consuming nearly 2 TB of data (Blue Value), but the snapshots itself are consuming nothing!!!

Re: ReadyDR shares and consumed space

Hi Xatosch,

Now that you mention it, yes I do see the snapshot values. I did test the ReadyDR myself and it did show the correct consumed space on my test. Are you just backing up from one ReadyNAS with (2) volumes or do you have (2) different ReadyNAS units?

Also just to cover the basics, you might want to try other browser and computers for vieiwing your ReadyNAS web interface.

Re: ReadyDR shares and consumed space

Hi FramerV,

i have one 516 with to volumes, "data" (5 x 3TB) and "backup" (1 x 4TB)... ReadyDR backups from "data" to "backup"... All the data on "backup" are valid, i had made some tests with normal shares and luns...

I have testet it on two computers and with FireFox and IE, always the same, consumed space is always zero...

Re: ReadyDR shares and consumed space

Hi Xatosch,

I checked your case with us and it seems that the Level 3 expert is still in the process of checking it on their end. Might be best if you wait for their feedback.
