ReadyNas NV+ two blinking HDD LEDS

Dear Community,

I've got a problem with my nas, he won't boot anymore..

in first instance HDD LED 2 was blinking, so i was assuming that he needs to be replaced.. for somewhat reason, replacing the HDD with another drive was not working like expected..

NOW HDD LED 2 and 3 ARE BLINKING... are you kidding me? Can somebody please tell me that i didnt just lose all my data?

What to do?

Hello basdg,

Welcome to the community!

Do you have RAIDar? If so, does it still see your NAS and what is the status? Can you still access the FrontView?

How many disks are inserted? What is the current firmware?

If you are not able to access the FrontView, can you still get to it when the old disk 2 is inserted?

Regards,

Re: ReadyNas NV+ two blinking HDD LEDS

FrontView is not reachable

RAIDar cannot find the NAS

The nas is configured with a static IP, pinging the IP is negative.

Nas have 4 disks (in RaidX) unknow firmware since my last maintance was a long time ago.

The NAS display constantly shows "Booting.."

The leds:

HDD 1: Steady on

HDD 2: Blinking

HDD 3: Blinking

HDD 4: Steady on

ACT: mostly off (blinks rarely)

i replaced disk 2 with the original disk but it won't have any effect. The led status keeps the same.

Re: ReadyNas NV+ two blinking HDD LEDS

Ok So, here's a status update. after several hours.. the nas came online... Well actually, frontview was reachable (terrible slow), and told me that disk 2 and 3 failed... So i shut down the nas... unmount Disk 2 and 3, and placed disk 3 back in... i leave disk 2 out of the nas for testing purposes.. i Then switch the NAS back on, and as expected the disk led status is:

disk 1: on

disk 2: blinking

disk 3: on

disk 4: on

display shows: "Booting..."

But unfortunatly, after waiting more than 8 hours, the nas don't get online, and won't pass the booting.

I tried this several times but going nowhere.. Is there some way to restore the data?

Re: ReadyNas NV+ two blinking HDD LEDS

XRAID (e.g. RAID-5) can only handle 1 failed disk.  Continuing to remove/install drives will only make data recovery harder.

Netgear and others (including Seagate) offer data recovery services.  They are expensive, but you might need to use one to get your data back.
