484 TopicsIs there a firmware update for my cable modem?
I have a Netgear CM1000v2 cable modem. I recently increased my network speed from my ISP to 1 GB, which this cable modem should be able to handle, however, it isn't delivering anywhere near that speed. I've contacted my ISP and they suggest that it might be the firmware version on my cable modem. I've connected to it and took a look at the firmware version. It is V10.01.07. I took a look at my modem, on the Netgear website, but it doesn't give me any information about the current firmware version. Does anyone here know if V10.01.07 is the last version of the firmware that Netgear made?184Views0likes1CommentEnable double NAT on C7000v2
I live in a building that gives me their router with their Internet connection. I can't change their router. Their router, of course, doesn't allow to perform any basic tasks like setting up static addresses. This is an issue for smart home devices that are supposed to have a static IP. I have a C7000v2. Is it possible to connect this router to the main router via Ethernet, and allow the Netgear to create its own network (totally separated from the main one)? I think this is called double NAT, is that correct? I know it's possible to set it up as an AP with a workaround, but I'd have to disable DHCP which defeats the main purpose of what I'm trying to do. I also know it's recommended not to have a double NAT, but I would keep connecting my own devices to the main network, so this wouldn't be an issue.449Views0likes1CommentCAX80 and Xfinity mid/high split (Next Generation)
Xfinity rolled out mid/high split ("Next Generation") in my area of CA, promising 100Mbps upload instead of 10-20Mbps depending on the plan. I understand that Netgear might not commit officially, but what are the odds CAX80 eventually supports mid/high split, and will that require both (1) Netgear-side firmware update (2) Xfinity-side 'modification' and push of that firmware update? Or is there something inherently missing in CAX80 hardware? For reference, Xfinity's official supported-device list only included (for Netgear) the CBR750 and CM3000 until 2/29/24, but on 3/14/24 they added the CM2500 too. https://assets.xfinity.com/assets/dotcom/projects/cix-4997_compatible-devices/2024.03.14%20Full%20List%20of%20Compatible%20Devices.pdf1.6KViews0likes2CommentsC6900 Firmware Update
Hello, I have a AC1900 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6900) modem/router and today I was looking at the firmware on the Netgear Genie and it said I haveV1.01.32. Looking at the chart on Netgear's website it says that my firmware should be V1.01.35 because my ISP isn't listed. From everything I've read, it looks as though I can't upgrade the firmware myself. I am confused as to why the version on my modem is different than what it should be. I bought this device myself without using an ISP several years ago. My Internet speed has been really bad the last few weeks, and I contacted my ISP this morning. They tried turning it off and back on again with their automated system and then had me manually unplug it and plug it back in. They told me that their system was saying that it wasn't operating at full capacity, but didn't show anything else about why. They are sending a technician out in a few days to look at things, and I'm worried that since the router firmware isn't what it should be they'll charge me for the visit. I am not sure if the issue stems from my device or not, and since I can't find out how to manually update the firmware, I'm worried that they'll just tell me that I need a new modem/router and that they will charge me for the visit, since it's not their device. Can anyone explain to me why my firmware version isn't what it should be and if there's any way for me to correct it myself? I'd also be interested if anyone has any insight on why the ISP said that my Internet isn't operating at full capacity and what that could mean. While logged in to the local web interface to my Nighthawk CM2050V modem, selecting the Advanced eMTA Event Log causes a modem reset after about 10 seconds. I don’t think this is normal, but I thought I’d check here to see if this is my local problem or if this is repeatable on somebody else’s hardware. I’m currently running Cable Firmware Version V9.01.01 on Hardware Version 1.01. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Hi netgear devs, When will a ‘mid-split’ capable firmware for xfinity be released to xfinity? I’m in such an area and my upload speeds are capped at 25Mbps. I’m paying for 100Mbps. Just need a netgear cm1100 firmware to be provided to xfinity. I’ve been a loyal netgear owner for many years. I don’t want to buy a hitron (I’m budget conscious and won’t spend >$135). So reading through a lot of posts here, I finally did what was suggested and changed from 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz and to my utter surprise, all devices in my house that FAILED trying to upload to various sites directly or through ftp all started working. Switch back to 5Ghz, and sure enough, they started failing again. Has Netgear published a fix for this yet?1.9KViews1like7Comments
